Module 3

In the 1960s, rock and roll expanded further into distinct sub-genres including folk rock, soul, British rock, and psychedelic. Artists influenced by their blues, rhythm and blues, and early rock and roll predecessors created new expressions and hybrids. Lyrics reflected attitudes towards the social and political issues of the decade. Technology opened up new possibilities for expansion of sounds and recording techniques. Consider this analogy: if rock and roll was born in the 1950s, it grew up in the 1960s.
