Instructions

Here in Part 3 of the Activity for Module 3, we're going to investigate the speeds of the planets as they go around their orbits.

Note: If you can't run these animations in your browser, make sure to look at the videos designed to help you with the Module 3 Activity.

We'll use the same Planetary Orbit Simulator that we used in Part 1 of this activity. If it isn't already open in another browser tab or browser window, right-click the link below to open it in another tab or window:

Once it's open, set parameters for Mercury and click OK. Start the animation, and adjust the animation rate until the planet is moving at a speed that will allow you to see whether or not the planet speeds up or slows down. (This can be hard to discern if it's moving really fast or really slowly.)
