OER Basics Course
This course is an introduction to Open Educational Resources (OER). It provides De Anza faculty with knowledge and resources in OER, Creative Commons Licensing, remixing, and Universal Design for Learning to help them make the best decisions for their students. This course is a self-paced version of the ASCCC OERI Introduction to OER Course. At the end of this course, successful participants will be able to:
- Identify and analyze Creative Commons (CC) licenses to determine a resource's permissible and restricted uses.
- Evaluate various repositories of open resources through research and analysis.
- Apply efficient search strategies to locate open resources and formulate a course framework for curation and creation on UDL principles.
- Synthesize multiple existing resources to create an original open resource and assign an appropriate license based on the licenses of the source materials.

Grading and Completion
Each course unit consists of at least one multiple-choice quiz that can be taken as many times as necessary to earn a perfect score. Earning 100% on the quiz will unlock the next module. The last module will contain a cumulative test. Like all the other assessments, you must earn 100% and have multiple attempts.
Participants can expect to spend at least 20 hours on the course content to complete the requirements.
